I’ve interviewed 28 leaders operating mission-driven organizations across 24+ countries, and I can’t wait to play with the data!
One of the questions I asked was: What are the top 1, 2 or 3 areas causing you the most pain as you lead your organization?
I’ve spotted a pattern in their responses:
Organizations with annual budgets under $500K - $2m always mention fundraising as one of their top 3 pain points.
Organizations with annual budgets of $4 - 20m (and above) always mention talent.
When I look at the root cause (excavating the problem behind the problem), by asking more questions, I find that it’s not necessarily always fundraising, or talent, that’s the real issue.
If you have a fundraising or a talent challenge, take a look at the root cause pillars again.
Where are you in this?

I’d love to hear:
1. Does this resonate with your experience?
2. If so, what is the root cause for you (using the framework)?
3. …And how have you solved it (if you’ve been successful in solving it)?
Let me know if you’d like to talk about this over a call! I’m always eager to hear new perspectives.
